Happy Halloween

The kids do not have school for the rest of the week so today was their Halloween parties at school. Then the ward Trunk or Treat was tonight. It was a long busy day but we all had a lot of fun. Zach was Matt Holliday from the Rockies, Madeline was Super Girl and Natalie was Curious George. Brig was the Man in the Yellow Hat - his yellow hat turned out kind of green so he ended up wearing Zach's cowboy hat. I ended up being a prom queen except I didn't have time to finish making my sash - luckily I had a crown. This is actually the dress I wore to prom when I went with Brig almost 15 years ago.

Our night ended up with tired kids, a ton of candy and a car battery that died in the church parking lot.

Handball & Halloween Costumes

Here is a Video of Zach. He was in the 18th annual Chipeta Handball Tournament! This was his second year in a row to be in the tournament. There were only 15 boys in the whole school that made it in. Last year he was one of only 3 third graders to make it. He won the first two games and then lost the third (it was a debatable loss) to the kid who took 2nd place in the tournament. We were proud of our boy! Brig's mom came down for the tournament and brought the kids Halloween costumes. Every year she makes the costumes for the kids. Natalie is going to be Curious George and Madeline is going to be Super Girl. Zach is going to be Matt Holliday (his favorite Colorado Rockies baseball player.) Zach did not try his costume on so I only have pictures of the girls. Don't they Look Great!

Brig is Published!!

Brig was officially published last month on the ECN Website (Electronic Component News). He wrote an engineering article about Oscilloscopes. Here is the link to the article: http://www.ecnmag.com/Design-Talk-The-Shrinking-Design-Cycle-page2.aspx
Now ECN is going to publish his article in the actual magazine that is distributed world wide. It turns out that Brig's yearly subscription to the Wall Street Journal has taught him how to be a writer!! Now that he is famous, he is already working on his techniques to avoid the paparazzi.

A Princess in the making & a Party

Natalie has been obsessed with dressing up as a princess, supergirl, and super curious George this week. We are not sure about the witch hat but she thout it was essential for the outfit. Last Sunday, Natalie told Zach that he was her prince but this week it was Brig. She cuddled up to him and told him that he was her prince. Then my parents came for the weekend and Papa Skipper was the new prince.
We celebrated my dad's birthday this weekend. My dad requested banana pudding for his party so I tried to make it with Rice Milk and sugar free pudding. It didn't quite setup right but I will have it figured out for his next birtyday. My sister and her dog Mr. Wilson, came down for the party too. Mr. Wilson always adds an extra element of fun for the kids. Madeline and Zach each planned party games and decorated with streamers and balloons.

Fall in the Rockies

It feels like fall outside. Today after church we went for a drive up in the mountains to see all the changing leaves. I love all of the Aspen trees in the mountains. We let the kids climb some rocks and walk around for a while. Natalie just wanted to play with sticks but Zach and Maddi were good rock climbers. Zach said that his favorite part was trying to climb the dirt hills and then falling back down. Maddi like climbing the rocks and collecting really big sticks (or tree limbs). She and Natalie had similar interests. We also took some pictures by Garden of the Gods where you can see Pikes Peak in the background. Pikes Peak has a little bit of snow on the top which means the snow is probably headed this way soon.

Natalie talked the whole up the mountain and down the mountain. A few times she broke out in songs but pretty much talked the whole time. Natalie told Zach today that he was her prince. It was so sweet.

Take me out to the ball game...

This has been the theme for this fall. Zach has had baseball games, practices, soccer games and soccer practices almost everyday this fall. We are all tired and ready for the season to be over but Zach can never get enough (especially of baseball.) Brig's dad came down to watch Zach play last night. Zach played a great game and did a great job playing catcher! I added a picture from when we were leaving just because I LOVE the mountains in the background.

The First Day of School

The first day of school for the kids in August. Zachary is now in the 4th grade and Madeline is in 2nd grade. Natalie doesn't get to go to school but she is excited to be in charge of everything while they are gone!
