Happy 6th of July! We had a busy and fun 4th on Saturday. We(Brig) spent the day building a new dog run for Molly and the kids and I helped. After that we headed out to Denver in a huge thunderstorm. Brig was optimistic that the Rockies would still play. I on the other hand thought the game was going to be rained out or figured that we would be rained on the whole night. There was a slight game delay but other than that Brig was right and it was a beautiful night. I got chills as all the service men and women held the American Flag during the Anthem and even more chills as the crowd cheered as the thunder birds flew overhead.
We had a fun night even thought the Rockies lost the game. We were able to spend time with some of Brig's family and even saw my sister at the game too. The fireworks were amazing and we had a fantastic view. We got to sit on the grass of Coors field. It was our second time being on an actual Major League field. We got some pictures of Brig and Zach in front the scoreboard on the field. It was a big night for Zach! Zach and Maddi liked the fireworks and Natalie liked them for about a minute then decided that they were too loud. I personally thought it was one of the best fire works displays that I have seen. I can't think of anything more American than sitting at a baseball park eating popcorn and peanuts while watching fireworks.

The Asay and Harts Summer Vacation
Warning, there are a lot of pictures in the slide show but that is what happens when the kids see their best friends after 3 years. We met the Hart family for vacation last weekend after 3 years of the kids begging to see each other. It was amazing how it only took a few seconds for the kids to pick up where they left off before we moved. Even Ruby and Natalie who had never meet before were friends. We had such a great time and loved every minute of our trip. We were able to go through the new Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple while we were there which was beautiful and so neat to take the kids in the temple. We played at the pool, the park, Lagoon and went to Temple square. The little girls went with Brig and Sean to the movies while the older kids went with Holly and I back to Lagoon for day two of rides. Our first day at Lagoon, we had been there for about 8 hours when a huge thunder storm hit suddenly. We were all soaking as massive amounts of rain dumped on us as we ran for the car. There are not words that can describe just how wet we were. It was great to watch Zach and Jack play catch (without mitts) but still catch. It doesn't seem like that long ago that they were only 4 years old and on their very first t-ball team with Sean as the coach. Poor Jack ended up with a black eye once the Girls entered the game of catch but I think they still had fun. Maddi and Gracie were singing the same Hannah Montana songs together as they waited for rides and Natalie and Ruby had a hard time remembering each other's names and would call each other "my friend". It was all sweet and the kids were all such good kids on the trip and we are looking forward to meeting the Harts again next year.

Jonas Brothers
Last week I had the best night with Maddi! We went to the Jonas Brother's concert in Denver. Brig's mom got us tickets and we met Brig's sister Emily and her friend at the concert. I kept the concert a secret and told Maddi that we were going shopping, just the two of us. On the way to Denver, we were listening to the Jonas Brother's CD and I asked her if she knew who was in Denver right then. She name her grandparents and some aunts and then I told her that The Jonas Brother's were in Denver right that very minute. She could not believe that they were there and close to where we live. Then I asked Maddi if she would rather go to the concert then shopping. Her mouth was wide open and she cold not believe what I had just said. Then she started calling everyone to tell them where she was going. I had to teach Maddi concert etiquette such as when they say "hello Denver" you cheer and it is okay to dance and sing along. Jordan Sparks from American Idol (just one of my favorite shows) opened for the Jonas Brothers. It was fun to see her too and she has a great voice. Then the big event and there they were, Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas. Our seats were amazing and we could see everything since we were so close. Nick is Maddi's favorite since he plays the piano, guitar, drums and he sings. Plus he is the youngest brother. He did appear to be the most talented of the brothers but I was impressed with all of them. We had so much fun at the concert. We danced, jumped, cheered, and will forever have hearing loss from the thousands and thousands of little girls screaming. I hope it is nights like this that Maddi will remember and remember her mom singing and dancing and having a good time with her.
If you look you can see one of the Jonas Brothers on stage behind Maddi.
This is Nick (the favorite) at the piano.
