Over a year ago, Brig gave me Celine Dion tickets for my birthday. My sisters and I had talked about going to Las Vegas to see Celine for a long time. Then Celine retired her Vegas show and I thought she was done. Well, my sweet husband found out she was going on tour (thanks to his mom) and got me tickets (thanks again to his mom).
The concert was suppose to be last November but then Celine rescheduled the concert for Feb of 2009. The new date was during the middle of one of Brig's trips to Japan so he could no longer be my date. My dearest friend Holly (who lives in Boise) and I were suppose to meet in Salt Lake in January but ended up cancelling that trip due to weather so Holly came out in February instead to be with me while Brig was gone and she was my date for Celine. Brig was gone so the rule is that the kids have to get sick when he leaves and poor Maddi got a horrible ear infection. My sister Kristi came down to watch my sick kids even though she had to drive back to Denver to work in the morning just so Holly and I didn't miss the concert. I am Lucky to have her so close and lucky that she loves my kids so much. My friend Holly had to coordinate around her 6 six kids including twin babies and her husband's tax season but she did it. I am lucky to have such a great friend who would do all of that just to come spend time with me. We had such a fun time and loved the concert. Brig got us the BEST seats and we were soooo close to Celine. I did get a little lost on the way home from the concert after we finally found the car (it is hard to tell North from South in the dark). Holly saw parts of Denver that I had never been to before. Then we stayed up for hours talking. I was so sad to take her back to the airport the next morning but thankful that I have such a good buddy and such great family and such a great husband who all do so many things like this for me! I am a lucky girl!

Happy Birthday Brig and Zach (a month late)

March is such a crazy busy month with all the birthdays, school projects, spring break and of course baseball starts as well. So I am a little behind with the Blog update. Zach celebrated his 10th birthday at the bowling party in Littleton and then again on his actual birthday. Brig's mom came down and we painted Zach's room and redecorated while he was at school. We updated Zach's room from his sports stuff from when he was 4 years old to more older looking sports stuff and a desk. Then Zach got out of school early for cake and icecream and then found out his other birthday surprise: the BYU vs. Wyoming game in Laramie. For Zach life doesn't get much better than a game on his birthday (except Wyoming lost - Go BYU!!!) The best part of Zach' night was having the University of Wyoming score board say "Happy Birthday Zach Asay" Thanks to the Grandpas in Wyoming who made phone calls for that to happen! I can't believe that it has been ten years since that cold snowy day in Laramie, Wyoming that my little Zachary was born!











The next event was Brig's Birthday. We were not sure when or how we were going to celebrate Brig's Birthday. THe week of his birthday he spent in New Mexico for work then he had to leave for France on another work trip. Brig ended up coming from from New Mexico and was here for his actual birthday. So after little league (he is one of Zach's coaches) we went out to dinner with Brig's mom (who was heading to the airport) to celebrate. We did have the best Steak that we have had in a long time and then came home and had Brig's favorite; carrot cake. There is a Dutch Bakery about 2 blocks away that make the BEST carrot cake so we get that for him every year. Then Brig packed agian and headed out for France. When it is all said and done, I am not sure how many cakes we ended buying and consuming this month! Happy Birthday to all the Asay's and Aunt Kristi!

Natalie turned 3!! (All week long)

Natalie has been celebrating her birthday since the end of February (her joint party with Zach) and then Sunday was her actual birthday and then Friday was her first "friend party" There was a lot of celebrating! Natalie has been planning her birthday for at least 6 months now. She only wanted a princess cake with candles. So after 3 parties, two cakes, and a batch of cupcakes, two princess dresses, and new princess "slippers" I think we can officially say that Natalie is 3!

Japan, Party and Pinewood Derby

There are so many things to cover from the past couple weeks. So we will start with Japan. Brig went to Japan the last week of February. I put a couple pictures that he took while he was there of the city. He didn't get a lot of sight seeing in since he had so many meetings. He did have time to find a Japanese outfit for Natalie and Pokemon games for Zach and Maddi. Brig got home just in time to leave for Denver where we had a bowling party for Zach and Natalie for their birthdays. I only took one picture before my camera died. At least it was a cute picture of the two of them together and Natalie in her "japanese princess" outfit as she call it.

Another event this week was the pinewood derby. Zach designed a great car and had his own personal record. His car came in second!!!!After a couple rough years, he actually had a good time at the pinewood derby. First and second place get to advance to another competition. I think it is in April at the Expo center. I have a video of one of his races. It is sideways and I can't get it to turn but you can still get the idea of how fast Zach's car was.

Zach also earned his Bear award, a gold arrow and 3 silver arrows and gets to advance to be a WEBLO now. It wasn't too long ago that I finaly got all of his arrow points on his shirt that he earned from last year. We are proud of Zach and all of his work.

After the Pinewood derby we went out with The Asays to celebrate Zach winning a race this year and his 10th Birthday.

Maddi's 2nd grade play & the Incline

This week was Maddi's second grade play. It was really cute and Maddi did a great job. She had 2 speaking parts but the songs were her favorite part. Natalie and I went and watched her dress rehearsal for the school. Natalie was so excited to go to the kids school. She wore her pants that matched Maddi's skirt. She remembers what Maddi wears and loves Maddi's clothes. Natalie loved every minute of the play and was really good.

My big adventure of the week was the Manitou Springs incline. It is over 2800 old railroad ties that go straight up the mountain. You gain over 2000 feet in elevation on the way up. So for some reason everyone in Colorado Springs thinks that they need to hike it. It is not an official requirement but I think at some point everyone her has to hike the incline. Then you run down the trail on the other side which is about 4 miles down. The trail down hooks into the trail that you take to hike Pikes Peak. So it was not the most enjoyable day of my life but it was a pretty big accomplishment plus I found out that I am not wasting my time at the gym! My workouts are paying off!
The top of the mountain in the picture is not really the top! It keeps on going which means so did I. They call it the false summit.

You my Prince

About 7:00 yesterday morning the kids were getting ready for school. The conversation I heard went like this:

Natalie: Zach dance with me.
Zach: In a minute Natalie, I'm getting ready.
natalie: Zach I a princess
Zach: I know you are a princess Natalie but I am getting ready
Natalie: You my Prince. You need to dance with me. I a princess.

We also had the blue and gold banquet for scouts last night. A majician came and the kids loved every minute of it!
